Since the 1970s New York State has been cautious about removing dams, especially in the Hudson Valley. Princeton Hydro has removed the first barrier on Furnace Brook, a tributary to the Hudson River, and is now working with a diverse group of stakeholders to remove the next barrier upstream - the 25 foot-tall Maiden Lane Dam. Jake Dittes, the Project Manager, and Duncan Simpson, the Lead Regulatory Specialist will discuss how sediment management factored into the design and permitting effort for the Maiden Lane Dam.
